President's Message
by Tom Wood

Well, looks like summer may have finally arrived for some real top down driving experiences. Lots of runs in the planning, make sure to check the calendar for runs and event for the coming summer months. And remember the Big Bear Run this year is going to be the twentieth year for SOCALM as this was the premier run of its day and is still enjoyed by both SOCALM and San Diego Miata Clubs. If you have magnetic club signs it is ad- vised to put them on your cars and let people know we're a big club of friendly Miata owners and we are out having fun with our cars.
If you made the Oak Glen run you can say you had perfect Southern California weather driving through some of the prettiest mountains. I have my car all detailed for as many events as I can fit in my schedule. We have met and made a lot of new Miata owners this last month at the Tech Day and the IE Social. You will have to check out my new wind blocker, we have a new vendor with some great deals on Miata parts and accessories.
Now that we have completed our twentieth anniversary program with the “Auto Club Speedway event”, and the “MX5Miatafest” both which had a great turn out of Miata own- ers. And with a few new owners who enjoyed the camaraderie of our fellow club members and gladly joined the club. We showed our vendors that we support them as much as we can and we recommend them to our fellow members and neighboring clubs.
Now that that is behind us we must look forward to the great events coming up. So check the SO- CALM.org web site for club events and if you are traveling or want to enjoy an event from SOCALM or a fellow club you can check Miata- fun.net. Both sites provide us with some great runs and event. Well hope to see more Miata’s with their tops down with drivers with suntan lotion sunning in this won- derful California summer weather. So lets put our worries, work, cut- ting the lawn, and other laborious jobs till the next day or weekend and “go for a ride”. See you down the road.
